1950s Fame & Family Gallery
In 1950 Furman Bisher moved to Atlanta on a swell of publicity and did not disappoint his readers. By the mid-1950s he decided to settle down, have children and raise a family with an aspiring live TV actress and model, Mrs. Montyne Bisher. For a while, Furman feigned the role of "family man" as expected of a contemporary public media figure, but eventually became something of an American role model by divorcing two wives, disowning one 14 year old son for smoking cigarettes and dancing with older girls, and shunning other sons for either perceived disrespect of his third "trophy wife" or for marrying a working class, non-Caucasian wife.
